were you running the website on your own server before this website? why, was it more expensive for you to run it on your own server?

Sure. My server (there have been two) had been running non-stop in my basement for the past 8 years or so. It had been running as many as a half-dozen sites — they’ve all been moved.
I’d imagine that cost me a pretty penny. Having this run on the WordPress servers is going to be much less expensive even after I purchase some add-ons.
