The Road Less Travelled

August 22, 2007

I’ve been at Avenet for nearly six years and today I tendered my resignation. It’s been coming for quite awhile. I spent a lot of time thinking about it on vacation last week and decided that I needed to make the move sooner rather than later (when we’re deep in a build phase) — for the sake of all of my good friends.

For those of you who don’t know, I started a software firm last year with an old friend. We’re busy with internal projects and with a couple of clients. It’s very difficult to fit all of that into the 8PM-2AM time slot, keep the day job sacred, and have time to spend with the family. I’m looking forward to bringing the “night job” into the daytime and learning what it means to get eight hours of sleep again.

This is something I’ve wanted for many years and I’m excited/nervous to get going. My last day is September 7.
